Finland 20 pennia 1863
Ultra rare coin, trial strike, only 2-10 minted. Probably never sold in an auction.
Said to be too large to have put into circulation. About 2 times larger than the 10 penniä coin minted 1864-1917.
Has anyone heard of this coin?
I have seen a picture in a library book, must borrow it again.
If you know more about this coin, please tell.
This coin is also part of the 1863 trial coin set. These coins were never put into circulation.
Only a few 1, 5, 10 and 20 penniä copper coins were minted in 1863.
This coin is often mentioned in publications, including those online.
For example, it is briefly mentioned here:
https://www.m-dv.ru/catalog/king,18/year,1863/coins.html (see the bottom)
https://www.russian-money.ru/Articles.aspx?type=content&id=158

However, I could not find any online image (I expected to find it on Russian sites at least, but alas).
My (still modest) collection:

The 1863 coins 5, 10, 20 Penniä are shown on here ...

" Patterns for Finnish coins have been struck since 1863, when Stockholm mint issued the first series of copper coins, of which three have been struck later for circulation. During the last 150 years, Finland has issued many patterns, trial strikes or souvenir issues, but all of them are extremely rare although sometimes some are offered on the numismatic market. "

Thanks for your replys! I did not even know a golden 10 penniä coin exists!
I've seen one live at the national museum but sadly they have since removed the coin cabinet.

I'm going to an auction on saturday which is right next to a coin museum, I'll pay a visit and see if they have moved it there and take a few pics for you.

And of course I can get some information from experts at the SNY auction and the museum.

Thanks! It was sad that the coin cabinet in the kansallismuseo (national museum) was removed. There is some nice stuff to see at the Finlands Bank's museum, but only (a few hundred 500 euro notes) the gold coins of 1878-1910's (pretty usual, even I own one) and few of the rare Finnish kopek and rouble banknotes but not really much to see. The coin cabinet was better but my memory is so bad that I have even forgotten which year I went there. But I remember it had many trial strike coins.
