This coin shows a mintage of 32,000 but 46 Numista members want to swap it. Please investigate if this mintage number is correct. Thanks.
It also has a Numista Rarity Index of 13 (unlucky for some!) which means a ton load of members have one in their collection (including me).
Just because you can't see it ... doesn't mean it isn't there - Anon.

I have this coin. I chose the best of the two available at my local coin shop. Doesn't seem to be all that scarce. But then I seek out low mintages. 2000 or less is scarce in my area. Rare is in the hundreds or less. Love Egyptian coins.

I also have this coin, even in XF, so I really don't think it can be scarce at all!!!! BTW, I call it 2 piastre!

The source for 32,000 mintage is KM. In Schön-catalogue there isn't any mintage for this type.
For sure the mintage data for the coin is wrong, but it is very hard to find reliable data for coins issued by Royal mint for foreign countries. I found this coin in 3 my catalogues but only Krause gives mintage data. To my mind 32000 might be true but for proof coins only. May be our colleagues from Egypt or arabic world have local catalogues with real data?
I can make a suggestion that mintage was near 6.7 mln for this coin based on reports of Directors of mint USA 1944 and 1945 years

As you can see as of 1943 the total coinage of Egypt was 1 176 176 ounce of fine silver. In 1944 in was 1 088 517 plus 214 574 ounce were withdrawn from circulation. So the surplus of silver coinage was 1176176+214574-1088517=302233 ounce. In 1944 Egypt issued only 2 piasters coin with 0.045 ounce per coin. So the total mintage should be near 6.7 mln coins (302233/0.045).
It is very rough calculation, but it seems to be more realistic to my mind.
This comes up around once a year.

I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
At the very least, Numista should be able to tell us the sum quantity of these coins in user collections and swap lists.
