Even if this type of coinage is very common, some year/mintmark combinations are quite uncommon and sometimes expensive.
I have a hand bag full of 1/2/5 zinc reichspfennig... I should check that out some day lol.
Hi. I am new to this forum and coin collecting in general, but I have developed a passion for the WWII German coins. My research upon the 5 reichspfennig coin shows that only the 1936 5 reichspfennig, and the 1944 G 5 reichspfennig are actually considered rare and of a significant value.
eBay has a 1936 D 5 reichspfennig (proof) at over $1200.00 Australian, and a 1936 G 5 reichspfennig (circulated) at around $200.00 Australian Dollars.
The 1944 G 5 reichspfennig is the other one of value and goes for around $1000.00 Australian (circulated).
The 1943 B reichspennig (by comparison) is being sold on eBay for around $6.00 Euro as it is deemed as very common.
If I am wrong, please feel free to correct me as I tend to use eBay as a way of determining coin value.
Of the German WWII coins that are considered as being of value, my research has given me the following:
1936 1 reichspfennig except with A mint mark,
1945 E 1 reichspfennig,
1940 G 2 reichspfennig,
1936 5 reichspfennig,
1944 G 5 reichspfennig,
1936 G 10 reichspfennig,
1944 G 50 reichspfennig,
1939 B and 1939 G reichsmark.
Collector of Third Reich coins (1933 - 1946), and Australian coins.
Not swapping at this time.
