Who here has the oldest coin, and how did you come by it?

My oldest coin in my collection is a French 1834 1/4 Franc coin in pretty good nick. I picked it up on eBay about 2 months ago for just a few Australian dollars, and really only bought it it as it was "Free postage" and I was curious to see what a 1/4 Franc coin looked like. I so love Free Postage!!
Collector of Third Reich coins (1933 - 1946), and Australian coins.
Not swapping at this time.
It's probably Quant.Geek and something in his museum-grade collection

Or someone who has a coin from the the Greek city states/ Early Ancient China

My oldest is a Roman from 282 AD depicting Probus, but the oldest coin I actually consider part of my collection would be my 1568 Elizabeth I Sixpence.
My oldest is a ancient chinese 5 Zhu. 90 B.C.

I bet on him too.

My oldest is a roman bronze (337-340 AD), followed by a byzantine bronze (518-527 AD).
Yeah my money is on Quant.Geek as well.

I hope everyone will post photos. MIMAEL that's a great piece!
If you are looking for a coin, this one is probably one of several coins that I have that is pretty old. There are other mediums other than metal that were used, like cowry shells...

This is the oldest numismatic object owned by a numistan. Not exactly coin shaped tho'!
As I am mainly into roman coins, my oldest is this one :

Mine, according to his weight, is likely from around 200-190BC, just after the second punic war.

Then I also got this chinese Ban Liang :

I also used to have some greek bronze coins from 2nd and 3rd century bc but I swapped or sold them since I am not collecting them.

As always Quant Geek, wonderful coins. You are a living british museum.
