Any comments on Thailand's new banknotes?

Thailand will have a new family of notes that feature the new king in military garb on the face, and the previous kings of the Chakri Dynasty on the back. Any thoughts on unspoken messages these notes intend to convey? They are beautiful. But what do they tell us? What do certain other commemorative notes of Thailand tell us? They say something even if the western mind doesnt see it. Any thoughts, western or eastern, are of interest...

no matter how the king acts, he is more or less like a god to the thai people. what else can you expect from thailand? or is it something specific you'd like to discuss?
Over the years I have collected almost all there is of 20 and 21st century Thai coinage and notes that are available to collect. I have also collected a lot of legend and lore as well. Not just from books but from thai citizens as well. I live near a university town and what a thai will say about the monarchy when the les majeste laws are on the other side of an ocean can be amazing. I agree. The previous king was well thought of. I think the les majeste laws are invaluable to the current king. Never sure how to spell french words.

I think you mean "lèse-majesté", the act of comitting an offence against a sovereign monarch: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A8se_majest%C3%A9_in_Thailand

Hard to believe it's still enforced thus in Thailand or anywhere in the world in the 21st century....
Well...it is interesting that only two of Rama IX's 4 children are on banknotes that commemorate their 5th year cycle. Why? One was the crown Prince, the other Princess has an unusual title that made lots of folks think the King wanted her to be his successor...Neither the oldest sister nor the youngest sister have been honored with such a note. The Princess is one of the most popular Thai royals after her father.

Sawas dee khrap

For me Thailand it's a beautiful, mysterious country (and an environmental mess all together).
We really need to know the Thai culture in order to be able to understand it's norms and values. It doesn't matter much how often you've being there before, the Thai society it's a cultural shock for us (western people/ farangs). What I did experience before is that Thai people do never ever speak wrong about the royal family, the national anthem ( you will hear it on a daily base if you're in Thailand) needs to be respectful listen in silence and the Buddhist values do get their own (Theravada) interpretation. As a Buddhist myself I still can't follow the Thai.

Concerning the new banknotes, I'd like to say that due to the fact that the Thai are very proud about their history (Thailand has never being a western colony) I do understand how important it is for them to describe the historical deeds of the royal dinasty on banknotes. We just do the same in the west.

I'd say go there, collect the banknotes and coins you need and experience Thailand all by yourself.

Cents are money too!
I think they look pretty good. Have to wait until July for the 500 and 1000 though.
