I was recently fooled by a user who unsubscribed Numista after receiving my coins. His profile had a 5 stars rated swap, and this was the main reason I accepted the swap.
From that bad experience I asked myself how to Identify that kind of trap.
Today I Started a new Swap, and sorted the list by Seniority.
To my surprise, there is an user who enter Numista yesterday with a 5 rated swap already !! (See pic )
How can is this possible ? Could be a clue to identify bad users in Numista ?
Lets adopt the KISS philosophy, "Keep It Simple Sucker"

That's a shame! I have a swap at the moment with a guy i sent the package almost 6 weeks ago and he has ignored every message since and i have not received any package from him it happens sometimes i suppose i am very careful now who i swap with, luckily it was not high value coins i sent! still frustrating however
That is definitely very fishy though having a rating after 1 day! You'd think they wouldn't be that stupid and wait a while if they were going to make fake reviews.

Technically speaking: Can be possible as the swap was conducted with a member from the same area, in Latvia. Perhaps, you may contact the other member who has a good rating history (10/10) and over 100 swaps..
Side note: A 5 stars rating indeed but only 1 rating, then not really significant whatever the seniority.. You may also have somebody with 2 years seniority and still only 1 rating 5 stars. In both case, 5 stars but common sense tells to be cautious anyway when swapping with both.
In such case you may also use the report button on the profile page of the user (at top right) so moderators can check and eventually add a warning mention.

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
I know the best approach is to be careful , but on the other hand could the Numista itself adopt some rules, like to permit swapping just after some time/number of coins/wherever ?

You have to have the possibility to start swapping at some time. I don't think some specific cutoff numbers can prevent all problems.
As you said yourself be careful and start swapping with members who have proven themselves trustworthy over a longer period of time.
Good luck!

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!
