I'm a keen trumpet player so when I was looking at custom trumpets I came across this (you'll find it about quarter way down the page):

5p coins for valve button tops... I'd love a trumpet with coins... but perhaps something better than 5 pence coins... haha! Anyhow, just thought this might be interesting to some of you (maybe).
Polish aluminium coins were used as washers, since a coin with drilled (or simply punched through with a nail) hole was cheaper than a 'real' washer.
Grosz do grosza i będzie kokosza.
what exactly is a 'washer'? is it some kind of washing machine token?
Wikipedia:

A washer is a thin plate (typically disk-shaped) with a hole (typically in the middle) that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a screw or nut. Other uses are as a spacer, spring (belleville washer, wave washer), wear pad, preload indicating device, locking device, and to reduce vibration (rubber washer). Washers usually have an outer diameter (OD) about twice the length of their inner diameter (ID).

This coin is often referred to as a washer coin

That's some cool metal work, on one of his pages he goes into how he works brass, very cool. I have seen coins used in metal projects many times.
Check out mokume gane, can be easily done with coins. US quarters work very well.
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

I make rings from coins; currently I have a 1954 US quarter on my little finger, and my wedding band is a 1964 US 50cent coin. Working on a thumb ring out of a 1943 walking liberty.

God help me as a Philistine*, but I really want one.

Legal disclaimer:

I use Philistine in the literary, rather than literal context. I am in no way racist towards Philistines, their cats, dogs and chickens. I have never aimed my sling at a Philistine, nor do I condone, support or encourage Israelite Kings slaying innocent Philistine giants. Some of my best friends are Philistines and I even had a couple of Philistine girlfriends in Grammar School.

No Philistines were harmed during the production of this forum post which wasn't written by me anyway, it's some other bloke with a different email address who uses my account.

I'm a keen woman lover so when I was looking, I found this.
Cracking!
yes very nice, and the coins don't look too bad either  ;)
It kills me to see nice old coins used for things like that. If it's modern and worn, fair enough. That ash tray and that toilet seat... =[

Actually, the coins in the toilet seat are well preserved.  I have a paperweight with 50 new Lincoln cents embedded in it.  If they ever get valuable some day, I suppose there will be some way to dissolve the plastic.
my contribution is this very nice paper weight.

After the start of the Euro in the Netherlands, all dutch money(gulden coins) is destroyed this way, so I couldn't come into circulation again. Some wokkels are sold for collectors and memories.

Do not argue with ignorant people .. !! They will drag you down to their level, then pulverize you with experience ...
At last, I found a useful purpose for my pre-euro currency spares.

Every few years, I cover the stairs with a fresh layer of paint, odd and even steps alternatively, how our fathers taught it to us. The coins mark the steps which me and my family can safely walk on!

I took this picture at the Royal Mint in Llantrisant in 2018. A Mini Minor covered in 2p coins.

I have heard that some people go into places called shops & exchange coins for items that are on sale. Is this true????

Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.

funny:)

This is what the first atomic bomb did to some Japanese coins. It is on display in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

Besides coins I love geometry. The avatar consists of each of the 35 hexominoes used precisely once. With the 5 large yellow shapes placed like this, the solution for tiling the remaining 30 hexominoes is unique.
