Can't find this on the site coins list. Might have missed it, but it looks like the center has been punched so I'm leaning towards a fake.
Thanks - Chris
I’m guess they were going for these since it has the square with a hole. Characters correct on front, (2nd pic) back they put extra characters on top and bottom and right character is wrong
Verweis : "KLiao"They do try their best. But this is nothing compared to their fake Morgan’s and peace dollars
I have three different trade dollars (US, British, and Chinese) and they are pretty comically bad. I gave the guy “the business” and told him I was going to shut down his eBay store unless I got a refund and he did it pretty quick. He now has “reproduction” in the title and removed the word “silver” from the whole page. They are kind of cool to have, but I was pretty hot...

lol
and he let you keep them?
the better ones are very hard to detect.
i went to a coin show one and the guy gave me 2 Morgan’s to see if I could tell which was the fake. Took be 15 min. Before I gave up.
Yeah - I said since he sold me coins that he swore were fake (failed the magnet test out of the box), I wasn't going to ship his garbage back to him...
I was looking at that website that points out fakes and even having the areas circled that were "wrong" I couldn't tell the difference and doubt I'd be able to do it in a store. One of the reasons I don't buy expensive coins (other than I'm cheap)...
I don't think it's fake. To me it looks perfectly genuine. I have the same one, but with a square hole. The Guangxu machine struck coins have sometimes round hole instead of square. However, I don't know the reason of this.

It's still surprising cause when a Guangxu struck coin gets a round hole, this hole is usually clean unlike Guangzu cast coins with round hole. And Hartill writes that the quality of Guangzhou strucjk coins was very high.
