My name is Stephen Allan and I am a 30 something coin collector from the Seattle Area and just wanted for first and foremost thank you people for maintaining such a wonderful site, and second introduce myself and just let it be known that one of my primary goals here is to broaden my relative horizons thru buy/sell/trade. I currently have about 2500 coins of numismatic value I guess one might saw, raw and another 100 or so NGC/PCGS. While I have been a member for several months I just recently tried using my laptop and it seems that it will serve me much better as opposed to iphone for this site. Unfortunately all of my pics (I have TON and take a lot of time and effort to get them just right) so I dont have anything on here worth offering but if you have any interesting in buying selling trading chatting or just saying hi, please reach out to me my email is allansmw520@gmail.com im a long term active seller on ebay as well as numerous facebook groups and such so i wouldnt be surprised if several of us may have even done business in the past. Welcome to the forum! Everyone here is pretty awesome for the most part and willing to help out each other if you have any questions please just feel free to ask. I would say most people on here are usually willing to sell if there isn’t anything they need from your swaplist so this site can be an amazing way to add to your collection and the site a even better way to manage it.

I'm always surprised at how many private sales you can find online. Saving fees and cutting out the third party is great. Have you ever dealt on reddit's coins4sale page?

Reddit is my favorite place to buy or sell. I only joined for the coins!
I would say people tend to have pretty competitive prices but if so they go fast. There's much more day-to-day activity than sites like Numista. You would do well there I'm sure.
I have not made use i’ve read it but now that I hear you mention it that sounds absolutely genius I bet you it’s even much better than Facebook..Yeah honestly in the last couple of years if it weren’t for private sites that have cut out the fees and stuff it would be impossible to operate as a collector that likes to buy and sell I mean 80% of the items I purchased they do with the intention of ultimately selling them in order to get something else. It’s most of the fun...anyways, thanks for mentioning it I will absolutely check it out...
w regards to other sites and general online purchases the most important thing if to make sure you trust that the coin in the photographs is the coin in hand that you’ll be receiving. There’s a number of simple steps you can take (take a pic of it on paper w name and date) is common practice in many forums in aware of, I tend to meet ppl and develop independent relationships so I don’t spend nearly as much time actively posting as in the past. Oh definitly, I think there should always be some form of vetting and feedback system even if it's purely user generated. I've never dealt with coins much above the $20 range so if something were to go sour on me it wouldn't be a big deal.
I'm not really in it for profit - like you say it's fun just to own certain coins, and if you get tired of them just sell off in favor of other interests!
I’m not sure how to quote you but that’s exactly how I feel for the first three or four years when I started collecting I would just buy things and leave them in their box hidden away somewhere so that no one would steal them or whatever and I eventually just got so sick of having all this cool stuff in it just getting dusty that I decided the only way to actually become in active in my collection was to realize that these things are meant it in the hundreds of thousands and there’s always more than I can ever replace if need be and bye training buying selling etc. I have found 1 million more things primarily for and that I would’ve never been subjected to
