I have two 1 pfennig 1950 Bundesrepublik Deutschland...but one is yellow and one is copper red..
I can't find the yellow one (probably bronze).
it maybe a "fake" galvanized 1 pfennig issue, but maybe not.
All I know is that it is and was quite common to have children make their own "golden" 1 pfennig
("luck"-pfennig, it's meant as a lucky charm) in physics classes. They did galavanize it so that it looks
golden instead of reddish copper plating it normally has.
They're quite common - even on local flea markets where you can buy circulated world coins.
Nowadays they use 1 euro cent pieces of course.

Check if there are any error strikes with wrong metal. I don't know any. If I come across appropriate literature I'll check it out.
but this coin isn't a common one no?there isn't 1 pfennig yellow like bronze coins minted by germany?
no there aren't. never been. might be a very rare undocumented strike error. but I doubt it.
as I said, they're quite commonly found - a result of galvanizing
Hello,
Am new here...
is it possible to post pictures, or provide a link to the pictures, lets say via photobucket?
Another "proof" of my suggestions:

If you can't understand German I recommend to translate it by Google or other tools.

Bascially it says that (and how) it's easy to manipulate euro coinage to make it look golden by
use of acids and other chemicals. There's also a reference of the "golden pfennig".
well, I do speak/understand and write German.
However, I did not find a golden Pfennig on this site. Did find a golden mark. But the mark is a different metal
is there any way to get un-doctored picture , both sides of the subject coin?
I would then ask the German experts on that site. I also have direct connections to a recognized German coin expert and a very direct line to the Falschgeldstelle (Forgery lab and testing place) of the German federal bank in Frankfurt.
The referenced site sure opens ones eyes as far as Euros are concerned...
I can't seem to find it right now because I have many coins...when I'll find the coin I'll add some pictures here...
Verweis However, I did not find a golden Pfennig on this site. Did find a golden mark
as written on the site:
"Sie kann aber auch wie schon früher viele Ein-Pfennigstück nachträglich vergoldet worden sein. Auch 1 Mark-Stücke werden ja immer noch wegen der Goldmark die 2001 ausgegeben wurde vergoldet um falsche Tatsachen vorzuspiegeln."

You speak german, you know the meaning of "glückspfennig", too?
So yes, partially right. It's a matter of different metals. But it seems the practice of having some coin issues
that have a special meaning to people (like the 1 pfennig - "glückspfennig"; or the 1 mark as symbol of the former currency) look special AS IF it were a commemorative coin in gold metal. or just as some kind of charm/talisman (see: 1 pfennig coin as referenced above).
Can You send the pictures, please.

I think that it is proof or it is cleaned.
Check my doubles ;)
I have one just like that! Mine is 1 pfennig 1991!
I think it is gold plated. As I was told lot of Germans were too sentimental about their pfennigs and marks so they gold plated them! I got mine in some buy a year ago, I got that pfennig and a 5 franc 1960 (silver) among 300 coins!
That process costs about 10 euro in Croatia where I am from!
