Hi all,

I have a rookie question. How do I identify the year of issue in a ND series Banknote? I am actually struggling with the Singapore polymer notes - Pick numbers P#46 to P#51 ($2, $5, $10, $50, $100 and $1000). They do not have any dates indicated on the notes, but I have been told that the year of issue is coded with geometrical symbols (as per the Banknote Museum - banknote.ws).

How do I correlate this information with my banknotes and identify the actual year of issue rather than cataloging them as ND (2005), for example, with 2005 being the year of first issue.

Can anyone share the details and educate me regarding this?

Thanks in advance.
Arnab
You have to know the symbols

This should all be written in the comments of the year lines and as far as I see all but the 5$ have it.
Thanks .. I have seen those line comments ... my question was to understand how that is determined. Actually, I was trying to update the $5 Polymer page of Singapore (since I have a couple of banknotes to add in) and I did not find that information in the MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) website as well.

I was looking for a source that ascertains that information (I know I can and do rely on the referees in Numista), but I guess the engineer in me is looking for the corroborating data :) I see the variants defined in the link that alamir sent and I thank him for that.

They are listed in SCWPM, so unless you have a catalog I don't see how you can find out.
Hi, so for the 5 dollar banknotes, to identify the year, you will have to look at the small geometrical symbols at the back of the note.

paper
Hu Tsu Tau Signature
1999

Lee Hisen Loong Signature
2005

polymer
Goh Chok Tong Signature
2007 -- no symbol
2010 -- one square

Tharman Shanmugaratnam's Signature
2013 -- two triangles
2014 -- one triangle
2018 -- one diamond

The symbols for different denominations will be different.
