Good evening,
I am having trouble finding a place to log this piece in any of the China sub sections I've looked at in the catalogue. I found an approximate example in the Smithsonian web-site of all places,
but even that one isn't exactly the piece I have; mine doesn't have the serial # on both sides, reverse only, & on the reverse my note has side-by-side serials with design beneath, where the Smithsonian example has left serial below design & right serial above design. Serial# G712420F. This is an American Bank Note Co. note.
Any ideas anyone, or am I overlooking something obvious again?
hope all safe & well
thanks
john

Without a photo cannot say 100% sure but your description sounds to be P-200f. Unlikely, but there is a small possibility that its an unreported variety if it isn't P-200f.
Hi Blue-m,
where would the P200-F be in the catalog? when I search under 'china 5 dollars' nothing comes up. will get pic(s) asap but my skills & eqpt are weak there, will take a minute.
If you cannot find the note already listed under CHINA-REPUBLIC you can add it yourself. As long as you input the correct information the NUMISTA software will automatically put the entry on the correct page. You can use images from BANKNOTE MUSEUM to create a new page. There is a place where you can indicate that the image came from that website.
This banknote is special in that it was the only new note issued in 1930 by the Central Bank of China. It's a P-200, coming in at least 6 different varieties a-f.
I notice that it is still not in the catalog. I have been adding in my banknotes that are gaps in the database a few at a time, making sure I am translating the notes correctly.
I have a couple of these.
It should be listed under the Republic of China, 5 Yuan (Bank of China); which would maintain the consistency of the database.
If I get time, I will input it. But with six varieties, it takes a lot of time.
